STAR GAZING
The children arranged a very clever and special gift to celebrate my turning 70.
This followed on from their 65th birthday prezzie to me, which was a dinosaur shark tooth to which was attached a plaque reading ’65 million years young’.
An anti ageing theme has been established.
The new gift was a star in the constellation of Horologium named ‘Arkhitekton Rogerius Walker’.
These names are facilitated by the Sydney Observatory and, given the vastness of the universe, will keep their funds coming well into the foreseeable future.
We had a private viewing at the observatory.
The light making Arkhitekton visible emanated in 1740, so a personal visit is unlikely, which is fair, since I am not paying rates.
Anyway nobody knows god’s address to send the cheques.
I can now say metaphorically that I am flying with the eagles and not pecking on the ground with the turkeys.
The astronomer who conducted the viewing explained that mine was a young star.
I thought this was apt and many thanks to my thoughtful children.
